Carefully choose the right size of the trap - a larger trap is intended for rat-sized animals, while a smaller trap is intended for mouse-sized animals. Do not use a larger trap for mouse-sized animals, as they may not be strong enough or heavy enough to activate the trap, and they may simply eat the bait without triggering it. Likewise, do not use a smaller trap for rat-sized animals, as the rat may not be injured when activating the trap, and it can return to eat the bait from the deactivated trap.

Tips & Tricks:

If the trap is still set but the bait is gone, try using a solid type of bait and tie it up using the two small holes provided for this purpose. This will require the rat to put in more effort to acquire the bait, increasing the chances of the trap being activated.

If the trap was triggered and the bait is gone, it seems the trap was too sensitive and was prematurely activated. In this case, we recommend using a lower sensitivity setting. See the attached manual for instructions. Using a solid type of bait tied to the pedal will also increase the chances of trapping the rat.

If a caught rat escaped with the trap, use the holes in the platform of the trap to nail or screw it to the base, preventing the rat from escaping.
